Description- Under the supervision of the Chief Radiation Therapist and the Radiation Oncologist, perform treatment and simulation procedures.
- Document simulation set‑up, administer IV and oral contrast, and perform point‑of‑care testing for pregnancy and contrast safety.
- Prepare the treatment room and equipment, including immobilization devices and parameter verification.
- Explain procedures, answer patient questions, and provide reassurance before and after treatments.
- Maintain patient markings, adapt treatments per physician orders, and analyze digital radiographs.
- Operate CT simulation units and supporting equipment; assist with HDR, stereotactic radiosurgery, and implant procedures.
- Evaluate image quality and positioning, confirm congruence with prescription and plan parameters.
- Monitor patients visually and audibly during therapy, reporting any adverse events to the clinician and supervising personnel.
- Schedule patients to optimize efficiency, report changes in condition, and train new staff as needed.
- Manage departmental supplies and equipment, maintain a clean work area, and participate in quality assurance initiatives.
- Support training of radiation therapy students and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Perform on‑call duties and complete annual competency tests on applicable equipment.
- Support quality/safety learning processes, adhere to regulatory standards, and submit required safety reports.
- Perform all other duties as assigned that support patient care and department operations.
- Certificate or degree from an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology program.
- ARRT certification.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
Lifting up to 50 lbs, frequent standing and walking, close eye work with computers and reading. Physical demands vary with assigned tasks.
Environmental FactorsExposure to blood‑borne pathogens, chemicals, radiation, shift work, and travel. Use of personal protective equipment is required.
