Emory University is a leading research university that fosters excellence and attracts world‑class talent to innovate today and prepare leaders for the future. We welcome candidates who can contribute to the excellence of our academic community.

Description

The fellow will provide clinical support to the Emory MNT4P Program and Metabolic Genetics Clinic as needed. The fellow will collaborate with the PI and other team members on protocol development for nutrition clinical research and will have the potential to conduct well‑controlled human feeding studies and assess dietary patterns, body composition, energy expenditure, and exercise tolerance.

The infrastructure to support this research is provided through the NIH‑funded Bionutrition Unit of the Emory University Georgia CTSA Clinical Research Centers (GCRC), which offers state‑of‑the‑art nutritional science research, including Dual Energy X‑ray Absorptiometry (DXA), indirect calorimetry using Vmax Encore, cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) using Vyntus CPX, Nutrition Data System for Research (NDSR), bioimpedance analysis (BIA), and BOD POD body composition tracking system (air displacement plethysmograph).

The postdoctoral fellow will also have opportunities to be engaged in patient care, developing evidence‑based guidelines, creating training modules for clinicians, and participating in newborn screening and long‑term follow‑up related grants, depending on interest.

Postdoctoral fellows are expected to readily learn skills in professional manuscript writing, grant/fellowship writing, project design and management for clinical and educational training. Knowledge of nutrition, ability to interact well with special‑need patients and families, a strong sense of research ethics, team skills, good English language skills, and good organization are required. Additional expertise in statistical software (SPSS, SAS, etc.), diet‑analysis software (Food Processor, NDSR, etc.),

teaching and instruction, and mentoring of graduate‑level students is preferred but not required.

After successful completion of training, the postdoctoral fellow has an opportunity to be considered for a potential faculty position in the Department of Human Genetics.

Preferably seeking a PhD or RD with an interest in nutrition/nutritional biochemistry for up to a 3‑year commitment.

Application Requirements
  • Cover letter describing research experience and interests
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
