Transplant Nephrology

Overview

Piedmont Transplant Institute, a national leader in kidney transplant quality, volumes, and patient experience, is seeking a full-time Transplant Nephrologist to join our team. The individual will be one of 7 full-time transplant nephrologists and will be part of a true multidisciplinary transplant institute model of care.

Piedmont’s kidney transplant program is based in Atlanta, with transplant surgeons, transplant nephrologists, and transplant hepatologists working together with APPs, coordinators, pharmacists and staff in one of the largest U.S transplant programs. Piedmont performed over 600 solid organ transplants in 2024, including over 360 kidney transplants, and operates the Lifelink Organ Recovery Center at Piedmont Atlanta. Our team is involved in significant transplant clinical research, and utilizes organ perfusion and NRP protocols to optimize organ acceptance and transplant outcomes.

Staffing of our transplant service includes in-house nighttime transplant APPs, with the hospital maintaining in-house ICU, hospitalist medicine, and cardiology care.

The transplant nephrology team is responsible for pre-transplant recipient and living donor evaluations, peri-transplant medical care, and post-transplant follow up. While all physicians are based in Atlanta, the program reaches across Georgia and the Southeast and utilizes telemedicine and selected satellite clinics.

Our physicians maintain clinical appointments at Mercer School of Medicine as well. Candidates should have completed nephrology and transplant nephrology fellowships and will be eligible for licensure in Georgia.
