Job Description

This position is in support of the John Hopkins research team. It is a worldwide rapid‑deployment role that will support John Hopkins research efforts on behalf of the U.S. Department of State.

The MRI Technician will be available to deploy worldwide within 72 hours of notification. The technician will observe the MRI scan at a designated MRI facility, provide the protocol for the MRI scan via USB stick to an in‑country MRI technician (when permission is not granted to use the machine at the site), and observe that the scan is being completed according to the protocol.

Key Responsibilities
  • Travels with team internationally within 72 hours of notification.
  • Conducts MRI in accordance with the protocol.
  • Observes local MRI technician perform the procedure.
  • Downloads images, safeguards, and delivers them to the client.
  • Maintains all supplies and equipment through travel.
  • Submits travel vouchers within 5 days of return.
  • Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned client‑specified requirements for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.
  • May undertake additional duties as required.
Required Skills and Knowledge
  • Graduate of an accredited program for MRI technologists or equivalent certificate programs.
  • Certificate from the American Registry of Radiologic Technicians.
  • Ability to perform Basic Life Support (BLS) interventions in accordance with standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Required Work Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an MRI technologist.
  • Experience using General Electric (GE), Philips Healthcare, Siemens, Toshiba, and Canon MRI devices (knowledge of all systems required).
  • Experience with MRI with contrast.
  • Preference for experience in remote settings.
Additional Qualifications
  • PIV placement preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification required.
Requirements
  • U.S. citizenship or Permanent Resident Card required.
  • Must be able to travel within 72 hours of notification internationally.
  • A valid passport is required and must be in possession prior to relocation.
Benefits

Compensation:
Min $60 /hr – Max $65 /hr. The final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data. The position is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance; 401(k) plan; paid time off; and an annual bonus.
