Job DescriptionUnder the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician procures, prepares, packages, and distributes medications and pharmaceutical supplies to ensure quality care for all patients. Responsibilities include maintaining inventory, re‑ordering supplies, operating automation and equipment, verifying medications, accurately recording patient profiles, responding customer inquiries, prioritizing tasks for timely patient care, performing housekeeping and cleaning duties, conducting quality assurance inspections aligned with TJC requirements, following OSHA, USP, and EPA guidelines for handling hazardous materials, participating in professional activities, completing required training, assisting in orientation and training of new personnel, serving as a resource to less experienced staff, and performing any other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications- High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
- Successful completion of an ASHP accredited technician training program or enrollment in a professional‑related school preferred. 6 months experience as Pharmacy Technician or completion of ASHP‑accredited tech training program preferred.
- CPhT certification through either PTCB or NHA and active Georgia Pharmacy Technician registration, or current enrollment in an accredited School of Pharmacy with a current Georgia Pharmacy Intern license.
- Must maintain certification and registration throughout employment.
Medium‑Heavy: 36‑75 lbs (0‑33% of the work day occasionally); 20‑35 lbs (34‑66% frequently); 10‑20 lbs (67‑100% constantly). Lifting up to 75 lbs; carrying objects up to 35 lbs; occasional to frequent standing & walking; occasional sitting; close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing). Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and tasks.
Environmental FactorsEnvironmental exposures include blood‑borne pathogens, biohazardous waste, chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, communicable diseases, electrical shock, floor surfaces, hot/cold temperatures, indoor/outdoor conditions, latex, lighting, patient care/handling injuries, radiation, shift work. Travel may be required. Personal protective equipment, including respirators, may be required.
