Job SummaryServing within the Research Faculty of The Institute, this position directly supports the extension, service, and economic development missions of Georgia Tech to the State of Georgia and beyond. As part of the Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute (EI2), primarily this role provides program development and implementation in the areas of Safety, Health, and Environmental Services. EI2 Occupational Health professionals provide industrial hygiene consulting to small businesses in the state of Georgia under a grant from the Department of Labor-OSHA.
Travel:
Local, in-state, and occasional out-of-state travel.
- Provide industrial hygiene consultation to small businesses in the state of Georgia.
- Oversee job site assessments by analyzing, identifying, and measuring workplace hazards or stresses that can cause sickness, impaired health, or significant discomfort in workers through chemical, physical, ergonomic, or biologic exposures.
- Prepare technical reports in alignment with sponsor requirements.
- Conduct management and employee interviews.
- Formulate and administer training programs as part of the OSHA Training Institute at Georgia Tech and for other projects to develop trainings for companies.
- Support the Georgia Tech OSHA Training institute by developing coursework and conducting training courses for professional education students.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, including but not limited to grant proposal writing, course development, statistical analysis, educational document writing, and other projects.
The position requires significant time dedicated to travel. The consultation programs encompass small businesses in the state of Georgia, and most consultations are conducted in-person. Valid license and means of transportation are required. Other domestic travel depends on project needs. This position does require time in office on Georgia Tech's main campus.
Required QualificationsThis position vacancy is an open rank announcement. Final job offer will be dependent on candidate qualifications in alignment with Research Faculty Extension Professional ranks as outlined in section 3.2.1 of the Georgia Tech Faculty Handbook.
Final rank will be determined commensurate with education and experience.
Research Extension Professional I- A Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Safety, or a related/relevant field (or equivalent combination of education and work experience).
- A Master's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Safety, or a related/relevant field, or related/relevant field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or
- A Master's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Safety, or related/relevant field and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
- A Doctoral degree in Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Safety, or related/relevant field or related/relevant field.
- A Master's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Safety, or related/relevant field and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or
- A Master's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Safety, or related/relevant field and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
- A Doctoral degree in Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Safety, or related/relevant field and four (4) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree.
- Preferred Education: Master's Degree (MS, MPH, MSPH) or Ph.D. in a related/relevant field.
- Preferred Skills/
Work Experience:
Five to Seven years of job-related experience (or equivalent combination of education and work experience). Industrial hygiene sampling experience or experience using hygiene sampling equipment.…
