Group is seeking a highly autonomous Billing & Revenue Operations leader with deep, hands‑on expertise in Zuora Billing and Zuora Revenue to fully own our global subscription, billing, and revenue ecosystem. This role is ideal for a seasoned operator who thrives in complex environments, can independently design and execute solutions, and serves as the authoritative expert for billing, revenue recognition, and system integrations.
You will act as the end‑to‑end owner of Zuora—driving architecture, configuration, integrations, close processes, and continuous optimization—while partnering closely with Finance, Rev Ops, Sales Ops, Product, and Engineering. Success in this role requires minimal supervision, strong technical judgment, and the ability to proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact revenue or customers.
- Own and operate all billing and revenue processes in Zuora with a high degree of independence, from deal setup through invoicing, revenue recognition, and reporting.
- Architect, configure, and maintain complex subscription models including amendments, proration, usage, multi‑element arrangements, and custom charge structures.
- Lead monthly and quarterly close activities in partnership with Finance, ensuring accurate invoicing, revenue schedules, and reconciliation to the general ledger.
- Independently investigate and resolve billing and revenue discrepancies, root‑cause issues, and data inconsistencies.
- Serve as the primary system owner and administrator for Zuora Billing and Zuora Revenue.
- Design and maintain product catalogs, rate plans, workflows (Z‑Workflow), notifications, revenue rules, and accounting configurations.
- Configure and manage user roles, permissions, and access controls in alignment with audit, compliance, and security requirements.
- Lead data uploads, migrations, mass updates, cleanups, and reconciliations.
- Own testing, regression validation, release management, and documentation for all Zuora enhancements and upgrades.
- Lead revenue automation and configuration within Zuora Revenue to ensure compliance with ASC 606.
- Configure and maintain SSPs, allocation rules, contract modifications, and revenue treatments for evolving product offerings.
- Establish strong internal controls, audit trails, and governance standards to support internal and external audits.
- Act as the subject‑matter expert for revenue‑related questions from Finance and leadership.
- Own all integrations between Zuora and upstream/downstream systems such as Salesforce, ERP (e.g., Net Suite), payment gateways, and data warehouses.
- Partner with Engineering and Rev Ops to define data mappings, manage APIs or middleware tools, and troubleshoot synchronization issues.
- Proactively monitor integration health, identify performance gaps, and implement automation or process improvements.
- Lead integration design, testing, and deployment for new systems or scaling initiatives.
- Develop and execute a long‑term strategy for scaling billing and revenue operations to support growth, new products, and global expansion.
- Build and maintain SOPs, documentation, and governance frameworks that improve accuracy, predictability, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with Finance, Sales Ops, Product, Engineering, and Leadership to ensure alignment across systems and processes.
- Provide insights, analysis, and guidance to senior stakeholders on subscription metrics, revenue impacts, and operational risks.
- 5–8+ years of hands‑on experience with Zuora Billing and Zuora Revenue, including deep configuration and system ownership.
- Proven experience owning billing and revenue operations end‑to‑end in a SaaS or subscription‑based environment.
- Strong working knowledge of ASC 606 and revenue automation best practices.
- Advanced understanding of Zuora data models, integrations, APIs, workflows, and administrative functions.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize competing initiatives, and resolve complex issues without constant oversight.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders.
- Experience integrating Zuora with Salesforce CPQ, Net Suite, or other ERP systems.
- Hands‑on involvement in Zuora implementations, migrations, or large‑scale system transformations.
- Background scaling billing and revenue systems for high‑growth or global organizations.
