Scrum Master
Lewis James Professional is a woman-owned staff augmentation, project consulting and direct hire search and placement firm. We are currently seeking a Scrum Master for a contract opportunity with a financial services client.
Responsibilities- Serve as the Scrum Master for a technical product engineering team, facilitating all Agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives).
- Partner closely with engineers to understand technical concepts including data flows, APIs, system integrations, and dependencies.
- Actively manage team workflow, velocity, sprint commitments, and impediments.
- Utilize Jira as the primary Agile tool to manage backlogs, sprints, and reporting.
- Collaborate with system administrators to develop and maintain Jira dashboards (velocity, burndown, and other standard Agile metrics).
- Leverage Service Now for ticketing and change management processes.
- Support a mixed Agile/Waterfall delivery model and help teams navigate delivery within an evolving Agile framework.
- Mentor and provide guidance to more junior Scrum Masters, helping establish best practices and consistency across teams.
- Identify opportunities to improve Agile processes and contribute to future Agile strategy and transformation initiatives.
- Demonstrate a coaching mindset, influencing teams and stakeholders through leadership rather than authority.
- Banking experience is required.
- Proven experience as a Technical Scrum Master supporting product engineering or technology delivery teams.
- Strong technical background; prior experience as a systems engineer, developer, or technical analyst is highly preferred.
- Ability to quickly understand and communicate complex technical concepts (e.g., APIs, data integrations, system dependencies).
- Hands‑on experience with Jira (required).
- Experience working in environments that blend Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
- Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor junior team members and lead by example.
