Battelle is seeking an applicant to fill the role of Chemical Threat Response Data Manager in the Emergency Response Branch of the CDC/NCEH/Division of Laboratory Sciences (DLS). The Emergency Response Branch (ERB) develops and performs unique laboratory tests to assess chemical exposures during a public health emergency or terrorist event. The ERB works with a network of local and state public health laboratories through the Laboratory Response Network for Chemical Threats (LRN-C) to assist in expanding laboratory capacity and preparedness for chemical-terrorism response.

The individual in this role will identify ongoing and emerging chemical threats; identify, track and report on testing capabilities within the LRN-C network; prepare SOPs on data collection; and support development of an interactive dashboard for emergency response capabilities and testing requests.

The selected applicant will have to obtain and maintain a CDC security clearance and a DoD secret security clearance and will work on‑site at the CDC Chamblee Campus in Atlanta, GA
.

Responsibilities
  • Collect current testing capabilities from LRN-C laboratories and other federal partners

  • Collect current and emerging chemical threats from media reports, exposure events, testing requests, and scientific literature

  • Implement a data collection stream from LRN-C labs to monitor testing capabilities for novel chemical threats within the network. Aggregate that data into summary reports for NCEH.

  • Develop guidance for testing requests and data reporting for non‑program chemicals to support LRN‑C, emergency response, and biosurveillance activities

  • Prepare SOPs on data collection, frequency, updates, and communications to provide guidance for ongoing updates to data

  • Support development of interactive dashboard to facilitate testing requests for emergency response and ensure awareness of response capabilities within NCEH

  • Collaborate with DLS OD to optimize response practices and support evaluation using response exercises

  • Adhere to CDC/NCEH/DLS and CLIA 88 guidelines with regard to laboratory protocols and quality control.

  • Adhere to the CDC/NCEH/DLS policy of treating all data as confidential.

  • Adhere to the CDC/NCEH/DLS and Battelle policy of laboratory safety and security.

Key Qualifications
  • Degree in data analytics, chemistry, biochemistry, or related scientific field with data analytics and/or emergency response experience.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Experience with data summarization and report preparation.

  • Experience in clinical laboratory setting and knowledge of basic lab safety.
