Audit Project Manager – CIO

This role is part of U.S. Bank Corporate Audit Services (CAS) and will lead complex audit projects focused on technology and operations. The responsibilities involve supervising audit engagements and ensuring compliance with internal audit policies.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead complex, horizontal audit projects and supervise staff in the completion of audit engagements with minimal supervision.
  • Monitor progress of audit engagements against plan and schedule and assess work performed by the audit engagement team.
  • Provide coaching and on‑job training for team members to ensure engagements are completed in conformance with internal audit policies and procedures.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on specific technology topics, driving strategy and supporting multiple audit engagements covering related areas.
  • Handle complex tasks autonomously and influence business line risk mitigation.
  • Partner with assigned Line of Business, risk/compliance/audit professionals and managers to create, implement, maintain, review or oversee effective risk‑management frameworks.
  • Participate in projects and activities that ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
  • Identify risk gaps and recommend solutions to minimize losses from inadequate processes, systems or human errors.
  • Escalate identified risks as appropriate.
  • Support third‑line assurance efforts related to large‑scale cloud migration and subsequent operations.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Typically more than six years of applicable audit or risk experience.
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Knowledge of IT application and general controls; working knowledge of cloud (PaaS, IaaS), APIs, microservices, middleware, databases, and Dev Ops.
  • Experience leading multiple audits concurrently and executing all stages successfully.
  • Validating audit and regulatory issues within agreed‑upon time frames.
  • Proven ability to adapt to a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience in assurance engagements involving AWS Cloud and other critical software assets.
  • Advanced understanding of business line operations, products/services, systems and associated risks/controls.
  • Assessment of control environment, identification of gaps and continuous improvement.
  • Strong project management, analytical and facilitation skills.
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other productivity tools.
  • Experience with major cloud service providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) and understanding of Cloud Security Alliance’s CSA‑CMM.
  • Knowledge of Dev Sec Ops  and CI/CD pipeline processes.
  • Relevant professional certifications (CISSP, CCSP, CSAK, CCSK, CAMS) are preferred.
Location Expectations

This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.
