Job Description
** Senior SQL Server DBA & Microsoft Fabric Engineer*
* ** Position Summary
** We are seeking an experienced Senior SQL Server DBA & Microsoft Fabric Engineer to play a critical role in supporting and modernizing enterprise data platforms. This position will serve as a senior technical resource responsible for SQL Server administration, performance optimization, database modernization initiatives, and the ongoing development and administration of Microsoft Fabric.
The ideal candidate will bring deep SQL Server expertise along with hands on Microsoft Fabric experience to help ensure highly available, scalable, and efficient data environments. This role will work closely with database administrators, data engineers, and data management teams to enhance platform capabilities, support modernization efforts, and improve overall operational support coverage.
** Key Responsibilities*
* • Serve as the senior subject matter expert for SQL Server administration, performance, and optimization
• Administer, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain SQL Server environments to ensure performance, stability, and availability
• Perform advanced database performance tuning including query optimization, indexing strategies, resource utilization analysis, and configuration enhancements
• Lead and support SQL Server modernization initiatives, including migration efforts from SQL Server 2017 compatibility mode to SQL Server 2025
• Diagnose and resolve complex database performance, availability, and reliability issues
• Establish, document, and maintain database administration and Microsoft Fabric best practices
• Administer and support the organization's Microsoft Fabric environment, including onboarding new systems and data sources
• Develop, support, and troubleshoot data pipelines, integrations, and analytics workloads across Azure Data Factory, Fabric Data Warehouse, and Power BI
• Collaborate with data management and technical teams to expand, optimize, and enhance enterprise data platform capabilities
• Participate in an on call rotation and contribute to improving overall DBA team coverage and support processes
** Key Requirements*
* • 7+ years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator supporting enterprise environments
• Extensive expertise in SQL Server administration, monitoring, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and database architecture
• Proven experience supporting SQL Server upgrades, migrations, modernization efforts, or platform transformation initiatives
• Experience with SQL Server 2025 or demonstrated experience preparing environments for migration and modernization to SQL Server 2025
• Hands on experience administering and supporting Microsoft Fabric environments
• Experience onboarding new systems and data sources into Microsoft Fabric
• Experience building, supporting, and troubleshooting data integrations and data pipelines
• Strong understanding of high availability, scalability, database security, and operational best practices
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and problem solving skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively across database administration, data engineering, and data management teams
** Preferred Qualifications*
* • Experience with Azure Data Factory
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric Data Warehouse
• Experience developing and supporting Power BI solutions
• Microsoft Certified Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate DP 600 certification or equivalent
• Microsoft Certified Fabric Data Engineer Associate DP 700 certification
• Experience working within complex enterprise data environments
• Experience supporting cloud data initiatives and database modernization programs
** Additional Information*
* • Workload is expected to be approximately 60% SQL Server and 40% Microsoft Fabric
• Responsibilities may shift based on organizational priorities, modernization initiatives, and business needs
• This role will help strengthen DBA team support coverage and contribute to a more effective on call support model
