UA Manager OR Sr. UA Manager, Zurich E&S

Zurich North America is hiring an experienced UA Manager or Senior UA Manager to join our Casualty Wholesale team in our Atlanta, GA office. This role will be located in our Atlanta, GA office. As a member of Zurich's Underwriting team, you will have the opportunity to fully apply and hone your leadership and strategic thinking skills. Some travel may be required to offices where the UA Associates sit.

This role will be filled at either the UA Manager or Sr. UA Manager level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.

Responsibilities
  • Accountable for ensuring teams meet key operational performance goals.
  • Assess and evaluate underwriting processes to implement agreed technical standards, controls, practices, and procedures, maintaining underwriting disciplines and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Follow up regularly with producers as needed to discuss status of new business, upcoming renewals, and renewals in process, and to develop appropriate actions.
  • Perform customer service and account management responsibilities, as needed, which may include resolving issues related to billing, making changes to policies, and answering policy coverage related questions.
  • Participate in key account business relationships in person or teleconference with Underwriters.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, ensure staff meet performance standards based on key operational performance metrics, staffing models, and growth goals of the business units supported. Conduct career development conversations and create robust development plans.
  • Make staffing decisions concerning hiring and guide staff development through identifying skills and training needs, delegating tasks appropriately, and motivating staff to provide outstanding client service.
  • Build insurance operations and underwriting skills and knowledge by participating in cross‑training and learning additional processes and procedures to support multiple workflows and contribute to effectiveness of team operations.
  • Build strong relationships across the business and take leadership role in Underwriting team huddles and meetings.
  • Assist in onboarding and training new Underwriting Assistants and Underwriters.
  • Act as subject matter expert for initiatives aimed at continuous improvement and operational performance.
Basic Qualifications
  • UA Manager, Zurich E&S:
  • Bachelor's degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate Degree and 4 or more years’ experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment
  • Sr. UA Manager, Zurich E&S:
  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Knowledge of operational budgets
  • Advanced knowledge of Casualty lines of business
  • Advanced knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory guidelines
  • People management or supervisory experience
  • Ability to manage and build rapport with team
  • Advanced skills in problem solving, relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win‑win negotiation
  • Excellent organizational, written, oral communication and presentation skills
