This is an as Needed Part‑Time Essential Services Position which will require you to work day and/or night shifts to include weekends and holidays. The position is subject to the Service Contract Act and is classified as non‑exempt, meaning you will be eligible for overtime.
Hourly: $28.73/hr

Our Linguists perform real‑time transcriptions of sensitive material from Spanish to English, collect, analyze, identify, and decode colloquialisms and slang terms, extract pertinent information, and communicate that information to law enforcement agents. The linguist transcribes source documents and recordings from storage media, including audio cassettes, videocassettes, and digital media.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Listen to oral and written intercepts or pre‑recorded communications in Spanish and provide verbal and written synopsis and transcriptions as applicable per project.
- Relate all pertinent information to the client when supporting a live project.
- Contribute to a master list of slang words and codes used by a particular group/organization for the duration of the project/case.
- Maintain a voice library for the duration of the project.
- Transcribe and translate pertinent calls and documents as assigned by their supervisor.
- Produce court‑ready transcriptions of pertinent calls, chats, and documents, following required format.
- Use specialized software equipment provided by the government, including JSI voice box, Pen‑link, Comverse, and other communication collection equipment.
- Maintain a daily log of productivity.
- Perform related duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
- Transcribe a minimum of 16 minutes of recorded conversation in an 8‑hour day.
- Operate specialized software equipment provided by the government.
- Bachelor’s degree AND three (3) years’ experience in a professional setting OR Associate degree AND five (5) years’ experience in a professional setting OR a High School Diploma AND seven (7) years of experience.
- Minimum of one (1) year of transcription experience in Spanish.
- Selected applicants will be subject to a government background investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements to access classified information.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.
- Knowledge of source language colloquial terms and expressions.
- Knowledge of SMS language, social media, and webchat.
- Excellent verbal and written skills in the target language, including correct and accurate grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Must score 3 or better on a third‑party language assessment in English (Listening/Speaking/Reading/Writing).
- Strong computer skills in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to work under pressure, in a fast‑paced environment, and communicate effectively with management and law enforcement personnel.
- Ability to prioritize, manage time effectively, meet stringent deadlines, balance multiple tasks, and work in a team environment.
- Take technical direction and feedback from various sources.
- Type 45 words per minute.
