- Paralegal Certificate and Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, business, organizational management or related field.
- Three to five years employment in a court system, criminal justice agency, in‑house law department or law firm environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by the appointing authority.
- Two years lead or supervisory experience in a legal or court‑related setting.

The examination will consist of an evaluation of education and experience, accomplished by analysis of the application. Job DescriptionJudicial litigation managers provide lead direction and manage all aspects of the criminal litigation process for all matters comprising the criminal docket of a trial court judge/division. They coordinate and manage the litigation process within the parameters specified for the designated program or court division. They create and implement case flow strategies based upon analysis of statistical data, review and prioritize complex and urgent case issues, develop and monitor case management and progression plans, generate reports and spreadsheets, update defendant and criminal case status, plan court events, create and publish court calendars and notices, schedule and coordinate logistics for complex jury trials and evidentiary hearings, and act as liaison between the assigned judge and criminal justice agencies.
They provide lead direction and guidance to attorneys, litigants, patrons, other court employees and agency representatives.
- Create and implement case‑flow strategies and prioritize complex case issues.
- Develop, monitor, and revise case management plans and strategies.
- Generate reports, spreadsheets, and review statistical data from the court computer case management system.
- Plan court events, create and publish court calendars and notices.
- Schedule and coordinate logistics for complex jury trials and evidentiary hearings.
- Serve as liaison between the assigned judge and county, state, and federal criminal justice departments and agencies.
- Provide direction and guidance to attorneys, litigants, patrons, other court staff, and agency representatives.
- Knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of differentiated case management.
- Ability to develop and adjust case management procedures using recognized litigation process management principles.
- Capacity to manage high‑volume caseloads from case inception through post‑judgment proceedings.
- General knowledge of court procedures and ability to act independently in operational docket management functions.
- Critical thinking, independent judgment, and problem‑solving skills in a volatile, high‑conflict, time‑sensitive environment.
- Working knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations governing criminal justice operations and inter‑agency protocols.
- Development and maintenance of cross‑agency working relationships.
- Knowledge of substantive law applicable to criminal proceedings.
- Ability to organize and facilitate in‑court proceedings, including coordination of resources and logistics for complex trials and hearings.
- Proficiency in court‑specific computer applications for managing court processes, gathering and analyzing statistics, and creating reports.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with judges, coworkers, litigants, lawyers, and the public.
- Proficiency in general office practices, procedures, equipment, and technology.
