The Operations Manager acts as the Transdev operations liaison working with the client’s and Transdev employees. They evaluate and interact with vehicle drivers and their Operations team, including coaching, mentoring, disciplinary actions, hiring, and termination as necessary. They are accountable for shift performance and compliance with processes, training, and system emergency responses. The Operations Manager ensures coordination with other shifts and drives process improvements.

They serve as an intermediary between the Senior Operations Manager and the shift Operations Supervisors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily activities of the Operations Supervisor to ensure efficient shift operation.
  • Drive completion of special projects and programs assigned by the Senior Operations Manager.
  • Attend meetings with the client to represent management as needed.
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders, including Transdev management and the client.
  • Support the client’s operations leadership in dispatch management, including mission assignment and leading meetings.
  • Participate in Lean/Kaizen and other operational excellence initiatives.
  • Interpret metrics, identify opportunities, and implement actions to improve results.
  • Ensure compliance with global process standards and pursue continuous improvement.
  • Perform vehicle driver safety evaluations, observe drivers, and conduct retraining as necessary. Manage performance-based pay programs.
  • Coordinate and supervise subordinate activities, addressing operational or personnel issues.
  • Ensure daily operational processes are conducted properly, including shift start/end procedures.
  • Respond to service problems, outages, accidents, and incidents; assist drivers with reports and testing protocols.
  • Interact with passengers and respond to unsafe location reports, recommending resolutions.
  • Develop and oversee work plans in conjunction with client staff, determining priorities.
  • Maintain routine records and perform clerical activities related to operations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or 2+ years of operations leadership experience.
  • Preferred:
    Degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field.

Relevant supervisory experience is required; 2 or more years of experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Knowledge of the service area and map reading skills.
  • Proficiency with computers for report and schedule generation.
  • Ability to supervise teams and make quality operational decisions.
  • Understanding of system rules, policies, and routes.
  • Strong communication, organizational, analytical skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%, be on call for 24/7 operations, and work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements

  • Long periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Manual dexterity and communication abilities.
  • Occasional lifting up to 45 pounds.
  • Visual and physical agility required for various tasks.

Pre-Employment Requirements

  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Successful completion of drug screening and background checks; physical screening for safety-sensitive roles.
