Balentine is seeking an experienced Operations leader to play a pivotal role in guiding Balentine through growth. The Head of Operations at Balentine is responsible for translating strategy into execution, managing daily back- and middle-office functions, overseeing operational technology stack (custodians, CRM, reporting), ensuring compliance (in partnership with CCO), building efficient workflows, and leading the operations team to support client service and firm growth.
The role requires deep RIA/wealth management experience, technical skills (custodians, tech stack), strong process leadership, and a "get-it-done" mindset. The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated expertise, with a particular emphasis on integration of new advisor teams, new custodians or platforms, new service models, and M&A related projects.
Strategic Operations Leadership
- Provide firmwide oversight across Technology, Project Management, Operations, and Client Service teams.
- Ensure alignment of strategic priorities with day-to-day execution across all departments.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to plan, coordinate, and communicate key initiatives and business objectives.
Process Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Lead efforts to review, design, and optimize core business processes to enhance efficiency, scalability, and client impact.
- Oversee process documentation, workflow automation, and the adoption of operational standards throughout the firm.
- Monitor and report key performance metrics, including process improvements, error reduction, and adoption rates.
- Collaborate with Client Experience to define client tiers, service standards by tier, and clear escalation rules to protect the client experience.
- Identify scaling needs as AUM, client complexity, and product mix grow.
- Manage the firm’s technology roadmap in collaboration with IT and external vendors to ensure systems support strategic goals.
- Promote the effective use of data and technology across teams to improve decision-making and client outcomes.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies that improve client experience and operational efficiency.
Change Management & Coordination
- Direct firmwide change efforts across strategic and operational initiatives, keeping teams aligned and execution moving.
- Design and execute change plans that include stakeholder alignment, communications, training, adoption measurement, and post-implementation review.
- Act as the central coordinator for cross-departmental initiatives, ensuring clarity, accountability, and timely completion.
- Facilitate project intake, scoping, prioritization, and reporting to executive leadership.
- Create and maintain dashboards to monitor progress and measure success across key firm projects.
Client Service and Engagement
- Work closely with Client Service and Relationship Management leadership to ensure operational consistency and service excellence.
- Monitor client satisfaction and implement process improvements to enhance the overall client experience.
- Equip front-line teams with the necessary tools, processes, and training to deliver proactive, high-quality service.
Custodial & Strategic Partnerships
- Serve as the senior executive point of contact for custodial and strategic partner relationships.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service terms with key partners and vendors.
- Ensure external relationships support the firm’s long-term strategic objectives and compliance standards.
Industry Awareness & Best Practices
- Stay informed about industry trends, benchmarks, and technology innovations to maintain Balentine’s competitive edge.
- Develop and present insights and recommendations to leadership regarding emerging opportunities and operational risks.
- 10+ years of leadership experience in wealth management, financial services, or a closely related field. RIA experience preferred.
- Extensive experience working with CRMs, various custodians, and industry-standard software.
- Proven track record managing operations, technology, and client service functions.
