Job : | Amazon Data Services, Inc.
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centres and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain, and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
The Sr. Technical Product Manager creates and drives the next generation of medium voltage (MV) products, including Medium Voltage Switchgear (MVS) and Medium Voltage Transformers (MVT), from concept to at‑scale global deployment. This role provides a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of power distribution infrastructure and hyper‑scale data centre growth. The Sr. PM‑T applies their expertise to:
- Design, develop, launch, and support MV switch gear and transformer products critical to data centre electrical infrastructure
- Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts for MVS and MVT programs, coordinating design validation, prototype builds, testing, and production readiness milestones
- Drive supplier qualification activities, evaluating and onboarding MV equipment suppliers to meet AWS quality, reliability, and capacity requirements
- Identify and execute cost reduction initiatives across the MV product portfolio while maintaining or improving product performance and reliability
- Engage with internal and external Amazon customers and support teams to capture critical medium voltage power distribution needs for current operations, rack roadmaps, and new data centre designs
- Utilise those insights to define product requirements, create a product vision, and own the product development roadmap for MVS and MVT programmes
- Coordinate between multiple teams to develop business cases that substantiate value, define product prioritisation, and outline budget and resources required to implement product roadmaps
- Drive continuous advancements within MV electrical designs and communicate technical direction to Sr. Management
- Own and drive the complete product lifecycle from idea conception through implementation and wide‑scale deployment to eventual deprecation
- Work independently in a high‑pressure environment with all levels of leadership and exercise sound judgment where clear guidelines may not exist
This role works closely with a cross‑functional team of Product Design Engineers (PDEs), Product Lifecycle Engineers (PLEs), Structural Engineers, and Technical Program Managers (TPMs). The PM‑T partners with PDEs on new product development, collaborates with PLEs on customer engagement and lessons learned, and coordinates with TPMs on first‑of‑a‑kind deployments. The ability to lead across these disciplines without direct authority is critical to success.
Amazon’s vision is to be the world’s most customer‑centric company, and this role is key to that vision. These MV technologies are essential for meeting our customers’ expectations for service and value and meeting Amazon’s goals for efficiency, speed, and…
