What

You Need To Know

We are seeking a Regional Philanthropy Officer to support the Atlanta, GA area and its surrounding communities. You will help meet fundraising goals and objectives and connect with our donors to further our mission. In this role, you will identify, engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective regional donors to expand their financial support of the American Red Cross’s work.

The incumbent is responsible for managing individual donor relationships in the Atlanta market. This role is not eligible for relocation assistance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement engagement strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors (at the $10,000 to $25,000 level and above), emphasizing revenue maximization.
  • Manage an assigned donor portfolio to form deep relationships and achieve a personal annual revenue target of approximately one million.
  • Lead and continuously develop relationships with The Tiffany Circle, an affinity group of women in the Atlanta market, fostering engagement through time, talent, and treasure.
  • Work with the local fundraising team to develop and execute ongoing regional strategy for qualifying donors to ensure retention, growth of donor contributions, and recapture from previous donors. Collaborate with other departments and fundraising staff on customized solicitation strategies.
  • Solicit assigned donor portfolios through face‑to‑face visits and virtual meetings, including preparation of personalized materials.
  • Maintain donor records within Salesforce.
  • Assist donors in creating meaning in their lives by giving to the American Red Cross.
  • Participate in disaster relief fundraising projects, community engagement, and administrative tasks as instructed by the supervisor.
What You Need To Succeed
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required with a minimum of five years of sales and/or fundraising experience.
  • Proven experience in developing strategies for donor retention, growth, and recapture, with success on complex requests.
  • A current valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Ability to relate well and work effectively with multiple constituencies and audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of office systems: MS Office preferred, fundraising database systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge, ).
  • Ability to work on a team within a collaborative environment and ensure the highest customer service orientation.
  • Frequent travel within the Region is required.
  • Physical requirements include normal office environment conditions, operational flexibility to meet sudden needs, skills to use a personal computer, and ability to drive, sit or work under challenging conditions as necessary.
Competitive Edge

Excellent interpersonal skills, commitment to the cause, and adaptability are highly desirable. Fundraising experience in Atlanta is highly desired.
