SUMMARY
Performs comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, orders, conduct, supervises, interprets diagnostic and laboratory tests and prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments in the direct management of obstetrical and gynecologic conditions. Promotes healthy pregnancies and neonatal outcomes. Practices autonomously and in collaboration with other health care professionals to treat and manage obstetrical conditions. The role of Clinical Nurse Midwife includes direct patient/family care, resident/ midwifery education, consultation, patients/ families/ group and community advocacy to holistic care for complex patient care needs.
Serves as a member of the care team with the primary responsibility of managing pregnant patients who seek care in the Family Birth Center under the supervision of the Labor and Delivery supervising attending. Responsible for providing prenatal education and support, attending childbirth, providing encouragement during labor and delivery, and supervising the general care of women and children directly after birth.
Provides care to women during normal pregnancies and deliveries and calls on obstetricians or other physicians if complications develop. In addition, the certified nurse midwife will evaluate and manage gynecological conditions under the supervision of a physician.
- Bachelor
* s Degree Nursing - BSN and successful completion of nurse midwifery program accredited by the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM).
- Masters or Doctorate in Nurse Midwifery
- Two years
* experience as a clinical nurse midwife. - Board certified by American Midwifery Certification Board
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Registered Nurse in State of Georgia
