Position: Groundskeeper III Mon- Fri 6:25am-2:55pm

Job Summary

Serve as a lead capacity in performing general and specialized landscape and grounds maintenance activities to include plantings, chemical applications and equipment maintenance. This position will interact on a consistent basis with supervisor and coworkers. This position typically will advise and counsel grounds keeping personnel.

Responsibilities
  • Lead in and perform maintenance of trees, shrubs, ground covers and flower beds.
  • Transport equipment and personnel via motor vehicle to and from job sites.
  • Provide instructions to landscaping crews as required.
  • Lead in and perform lawn maintenance activities.
  • Keeps landscape and grounds free of debris, trash, branches and leaves, remove ice, empty trash receptacles, clean storm drains and ash urns.
  • Apply chemicals to maintain the Institute's lawn, trees, shrubs, ground cover, and flowers.
  • Perform routine maintenance of equipment.
  • Complete daily grounds maintenance reports.
  • Train new employees in grounds keeping duties; promote safe working practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School Diploma
  • Three to four years of job related experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

This job requires working knowledge of grounds maintenance processes and practices including operation and maintenance of related equipment, use of radio communications equipment and operation of a motor vehicle. Skills in providing work direction, work-related training and leadership are required.
