What do our Mosquito Technicians do?The primary purpose of this role is to provide a quality, professional service. Mosquito Technicians deliver service with courtesy, safety, and dependability to ensure each customer has a positive experience.
Responsibilities- Inspect control zones for potential mosquito breeding habitat and larvae by visual inspection and dipping.
- Assess each inspection site and apply appropriate control techniques such as source reduction, biological control, public education, and chemical control (including larvicides and adulticides at labeled rates).
- Place and retrieve monitoring devices to assess mosquito populations.
- Accurately record all findings and control activities on the log sheet and GPS unit, and enter data into VDCI’s database as required.
- Handle and apply all chemicals according to label specifications and safety data sheets.
- Follow proper safety and spill procedures and use required personal protective equipment.
- Communicate respectfully and knowledgeably to residents during inspections and public relations activities.
- Operate all equipment safely and mix pesticides accurately as needed.
- React promptly to change and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
- Exhibit solid reading, writing, and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable with self‑directed working conditions after training.
- Work is performed outdoors and may expose to hazardous situations such as weather, uneven terrain, pesticides, dust, noise, insects, hazardous plants, and animals.
- Capable of lifting and moving items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Safely operate a motor vehicle and keep equipment clean.
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Open to learning and becoming knowledgeable in pest control.
- High school diploma or GED; related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver’s license from state of residence.
- Basic math skills – add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
- Licenses/certificates as required by federal, state, and local regulations (covered by us).
- Customer‑facing experience preferred.
