Job Overview

Hensel Phelps, a national construction leader, seeks an experienced Quality Control Manager to implement and manage QC programs on large commercial projects in the Atlanta market. The role partners with project superintendents, PMs and owners’ QA to resolve QC issues and promote quality across the enterprise.

Essential Duties
  • Lead the weekly QC meetings and drive the six‑step quality control/safety process.
  • Develop and maintain the site‑specific quality program, including the quality control plan, quality process log, test register and quality point files.
  • Prepare agendas and participate in preparatory meetings before the start of each definable feature of work.
  • Interface directly with owners’ QA and management on all quality‑related issues.
  • Review initial and follow‑up inspection reports, punch list items and close‑in inspection results.
  • Submit and review RFIs to ensure field changes are implemented correctly.
  • Receive trade partner test and inspection requests and coordinate a comprehensive test and inspection schedule.
  • Document and submit a daily report of quality control activity.
  • Audit trade partner QC procedures and report chronic problems to upper management.
  • Participate in selecting outside testing contractors and verify adherence to testing standards, frequency and documentation.
  • Coordinate third‑party testing agency activities and schedule source inspections.
  • Evaluate and develop QC personnel.
Qualifications
  • 4‑year degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture or construction management, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5‑7 years’ experience on large commercial construction projects.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel templates), Prolog, Primavera and AutoCAD.
Physical Work Classification
  • Moderate work. The individual will walk, kneel, sit, crouch, reach, stoop, read, speak, push, pull and lift as required.
  • Frequency of each action varies with workflow and office activity.
  • Occasionally exposed to high and low temperatures, noisy environments and outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
