Position Summary

In support of Morehouse School of Medicine’s vision: “Leading the creation and advancement of health equity,” the Cardiovascular Research Institute (CVRI) is seeking an energetic, motivated scientist interested in cardiovascular research. The focus is on investigating therapeutic angiogenesis for ischemic diseases and the underlying molecular mechanisms in in vitro and in vivo animal models. Under the guidance of the Principal Investigator, the incumbent will independently design, conduct, analyze, and evaluate experiments related to the lab’s areas of interest.

The postdoctoral fellow will also provide training to staff and students as needed. This position is part of an initiative to develop behavioral digital platforms using pervasive technologies applied to public health and clinical medicine.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. in Life Sciences or M.D. from a regionally accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in rodent surgery.

Job Duties

The duties include, but are not limited to: serving as a senior contributor in research activities under the mentorship of the Principal Investigator; developing and contributing to new research areas and projects; presenting data weekly to the research team; promoting research through presentations at scientific forums and publications; staying updated with cutting-edge technology and teaching complex techniques; supervising students assisting with research tasks;

providing consultation on complex projects; and applying for grant funding for independent projects, as applicable.
