Postdoctoral Fellow

Position Summary

Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) is a renowned academic medical center dedicated to improving the health and well‑being of individuals and communities, particularly people of color and underserved populations. The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to join a multidisciplinary team devoted to sleep neurobiology at the circuitry level.

• Doctoral degree (PhD or MD) in neuroscience, molecular biology, cell biology, or a related biomedical discipline.
• Peer‑reviewed publications in internationally recognized journals.

• Experience with modern mouse genetics in the neurobiology of behavior.
• Solid foundation in techniques used to identify neurocircuitry mechanisms.
• Familiarity with mouse behavior/sleep EEGs, stereotactic injections, AAVs, and imaging (not required but a plus).
• Prior research or working knowledge in mammalian sleep neurobiology.

• Serve as a senior, top‑level contributor in research activities under the mentorship of the Principal Investigators.
• Independently design, conduct, and analyze experiments related to sleep neurobiology.
• Manage research projects from inception to completion, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Present findings through weekly updates, scientific conferences, and publications.
• Develop new experimental approaches and, with permission, pursue independent research projects.
• Develop and teach complex experimental techniques as needed.
• Supervise students assisting with research tasks and provide conceptual and technical training.
• Consult on and provide expertise for complex projects within the lab.
• Apply for grant funding for independent projects when appropriate.

Salary: $25,175.00–$37,500.00
