Senior Research Specialist/Biochemist – Tetramer Core
Emory National Primate Research Center (EPC), an NIH‑funded contract, seeks an experienced Senior Research Specialist/Biochemist for the Tetramer Core Facility (TCF). The role focuses on the production and distribution of MHC tetramers, reagents used to identify antigen‑specific T cells.
Key responsibilities include:
- Independent performance of highly technical and complex research, lab tests, and procedures.
- Developing highly specialized research procedures using advanced techniques and equipment.
- Contributing to protocol development.
- Serving as a technical resource for other research personnel.
- Analyzing and interpreting study results.
- Investigating and recommending alternative approaches to improve quality.
- Training research staff in specialized procedures.
- Recommending new equipment and supplies for specialized procedures.
- Contributing to departmental goal and objective development.
- Assisting in grant and other funding application preparation.
- Reviewing literature for related research developments and techniques.
- Preparing written materials, charts, and graphs on specialized techniques and results for publication or presentation.
- Overseeing quality assurance of research performed by others.
- Monitoring handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous substances.
- Performing related responsibilities as required.
- Managing safety precautions and potential hazardous agents.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field and four years of research experience, OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Enjoys working collaboratively as a team.
Working Environment:
- Work schedule to be discussed during interview.
- Exposure to hazards or physical risks requiring safety precautions.
- Typical laboratory environment.
- Ability to bend, kneel, and/or squat.
