Discover Your Career at Emory University

Emory University is a leading research university that fosters excellence and attracts world‑class talent to innovate today and prepare leaders for the future. We welcome candidates who can contribute to the excellence of our academic community.

Description

The Division of Microbiology and Immunology within the Emory National Primate Research Center at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, is looking for enthusiastic, creative, and highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellows to join the laboratory of Dr. Mirko Paiardini. Our laboratory is focused on characterizing cellular and anatomical niches of HIV persistence, which we use to inform immunotherapy‑based strategies to facilitate viral control following antiretroviral therapy (ART) cessation.

Using SIV infected non‑human primates (NHPs) as a comparative model of HIV pathogenesis in combination with techniques such as high‑parameter flow cytometry and ex vivo T cell functional assays, we have investigated and evaluated novel therapeutic interventions to reduce the viral reservoir content, in hope of developing a strategy towards sustained viral remission in the absence of ART. In partnership with Merck, our laboratory is a core component of the Enterprise for Research and Advocacy to Stop and Eradicate (ERASE) HIV Collaboratory.

We offer salary and benefits commensurate with experience and NIH guidelines; an opportunity to collaborate with a diverse array of academic and industry leaders in HIV immunology; a supportive environment to mentor fellows towards becoming independent investigators; and an experienced research team with a track record of publishing in high impact journals. Foreign candidates can be sponsored for a US work visa.

If interested, you can either contact Mirko Paiardini directly via email (mirko.paiardini) or apply via the Emory Careers Portal. Please provide a copy of your CV, a cover letter detailing your research interests and goals, and the names of 3 evaluators with their contact information.

Collaborate. Innovate. Serve. These three simple words capture what we do at EPC to help advance science and improve the health and well‑being of humans and non‑human primates. If you are someone with laboratory research experience who is familiar with nonhuman primate models of HIV immunology, this is an amazing opportunity to indirectly save and change lives and make a positive impact in the science and research community.

Dedicated to discovering causes, preventions, treatments, and cures of disease, Emory National Primate Research Center (EPC) is improving human and animal health and lives worldwide. One of seven NPRCs funded by the NIH, EPC conducts studies that make breakthrough discoveries possible. Learn more at (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)..
