Position Summary

The Department of Microbiology, Biochemistry, and Immunology seeks a Postdoctoral Fellow to join Dr. Zandi’s laboratory. The incumbent will independently design, conduct, and analyze experiments related to the lab’s areas of interest, and provide training to staff and students as needed.
Minimum Qualifications- Ph.D. or equivalent in virology, immunology, or related biomedical sciences.
- Experience in antiviral drug discovery, molecular virology, and viral immunology.
- Peer‑reviewed publications in internationally recognized journals.
- Expertise in in‑vitro and in‑vivo pharmacology.
- Hands‑on experience in laboratory animal handling.
- Strong publication record and contributions to the scientific community.
- Ability to design, implement, and analyze advanced research studies in virology and immunology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in BSL‑2 and BSL‑3 facilities.
- Experience with RNAi therapeutics.
- Experience with respiratory viruses.
- Advanced statistical analysis and data visualization skills.
- Ability to translate scientific findings into practical applications or policy recommendations.
- Familiarity with interdisciplinary or translational research approaches.
- Lead the design, development, and execution of complex research studies in virology and viral immunology.
- Develop and refine experimental protocols and methodologies to ensure scientific rigor.
- Analyze, interpret, and synthesize data; prepare reports, publications, and presentations.
- Mentor and guide junior scientists and research staff.
- Collaborate with cross‑disciplinary teams to advance institutional research objectives.
- Contribute to grant writing and funding proposals under the principal investigator’s supervision.
- Stay current with emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in the field.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, ethical standards, and institutional policies.
- Perform other duties assigned by the PI, including training and oversight of graduate students and laboratory activities.
