Summary of Position
Senior Ecologists will train/support Staff and Project Ecologists, providing guidance and expertise on all aspects of ecological resources, technical reporting, project management, and all other project-related issues under the direction of the Senior Ecologist, Senior Ecologist/Supervisor, or Business Unit Manager. This position will also be responsible for preparing technical reports for complex ecological resource projects, performing quality management reviews, and ensuring technical capabilities and processes support Department standards.
Duties & Responsibilities- Train/support Staff and Project Ecologists, providing guidance and expertise on all aspects of ecological resources, technical reporting, project management skills, and all other project-related issues to ensure the sharing of best practices.
- Perform quality management reviews of Staff and Project Ecologist deliverables to ensure capabilities and processes support Department standards.
- Manage and direct large, complex ecological resource projects in collaboration with the Senior Ecologist, Senior Ecologist/Supervisor, or Business Unit Manager to ensure effective project management and a consistent level of technical standards and applications.
- Serve as assigned ecologist on high-profile, multifaceted, or new market area ecological resource projects (as available) with competing deadlines and budget constraints.
- Collaborate with technical teams, government agency representatives, key clients, designers, landowners, project managers, and other departments to identify fatal flaws, schedule delays, opportunities for schedule acceleration or recovery, address ecological resource concerns, and ensure coordination and efficiency on projects.
- Develop and maintain task schedules and priorities for assigned projects, including a list of all required cultural resources documentation prioritized by project baseline schedules.
- Conduct background research using a variety of primary and secondary sources.
- Lead and conduct ecological resource field surveys while adhering to Department safety protocols and procedures.
- Prepare proficient and efficient technical reports and final production of ecological resource documents, which include comprehensive plans and graphics.
- Contribute to ad hoc projects, as needed, and collaborate with Senior Ecologist/Supervisor, or Business Unit Manager in defining operational systems and process improvements.
Compensation Range:
$77,400.00 - $
