This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Senior Consultant/Environmental Planning/Ecologist for our Atlanta, GA office. Be involved in projects with our Advisory Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact- Conduct ecological field surveys, including collecting observational, spatial, and environmental data. Perform additional tasks supporting environmental permitting and ecological evaluations.
- Jurisdictional wetland and stream delineation.
- Conduct protected species surveys and habitat assessments surveys.
- Assessment of potential impacts to wetlands, streams, and/or protected species.
- Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field/work site notebook.
- Draft ecological documents and permits and provide QA/QC for documents prepared by others.
- Wetland and stream mitigation monitoring and credit calculations.
- Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurement and documentation.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Wildlife Ecology, Wetland Ecology, Botany, or related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in ecology/environmental planning and permitting projects for transportation and other infrastructure related programs.
- Ability to work independently under limited supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives and provide guidance to junior staff.
- Experience with wetland/stream permitting, conducting ecological field surveys, data collection, and habitat assessments for species of Georgia and Southeast.
- Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity with regulatory agency guidelines pertaining to transportation projects in Georgia (GDOT, GA EPD, USACE, USFWS).
- Proficient with Arc Map/Arc Pro and GIS applications.
- Capable of producing clear and concise written documents.
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a scientific and non-scientific audience.
- Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
- Proficiency with technical writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools.
- Ability to uphold workplace safety guidelines and to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
- Master’s Degree in relevant field of study.
- Professional licensure or certification (PWS, CEP, etc.).
