Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Groundskeeper I on the Dahlonega campus. This position is responsible for landscape work in a University environment.
Any offer of employment is contingent upon your eligibility to work in the United States. - Physically demanding manual labor consisting of lawn, flower and shrub care.
- Digging, spraying, edging and power tool operation.
- Other duties as assigned, including building or property maintenance support as needed.
- Ability to operate basic landscape machinery and power tools.
- Must be able to perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Must be able to understand and follow specific oral and written instruction.
- Must have the ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time, often in adverse weather conditions.
- Must be able to work at heights up to 40 feet, execute work requiring bending and reaching overhead, lift up to 50 pounds, and climb ladders of varying sizes.
- Follow safety procedures and work in a safe manner.
- Ability to operate small hand tools, balancing, bending over, carrying, climbing ladders, crawling, crouching, eye‑hand coordination, gripping, handling hazards such as electrical, chemical, biological hazards, hearing, environmental factors, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive use of hands or legs, standing, stooping, talking, twisting, walking, ability to work heights up to 60 feet using man lifts and ladders, operate vehicles, trucks, golf carts.
- Ability to operate power tools, large landscape machinery and heavy equipment.
- Valid state driver’s license.
- High School graduate, GED preferred.
- Grounds/landscaping experience preferred.
Minimum Starting Salary: $15.00 per hour
