Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, execute and maintain software to test the product/application.
  • Define automation strategy, automation cases and design tools for unit, functional and performance testing in a programmatic manner.
  • Participate in design and code inspections.
  • Propose improvements to existing processes and build automated tools, libraries and utilities to improve team speed, quality and efficiency.
  • Write testing code that exposes defects in production-level code as well as defects at the component and feature integration level.
  • Work with a wide variety of technologies from front-end UI to back-end distributed web services.
  • Own the design and implementation of tests that aid end-to-end quality of major deliverables, collaborating closely with engineers and teams.
  • Integrate tests and infrastructure automation into the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Contribute to agile development teams following 12‑Factor application development principles.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team environment.
Qualifications
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in Information Technology with expertise in test automation at UI and API layers.
  • Hands‑on experience writing, maintaining automated UI and API tests in Java, JavaScript, C# or Python using Selenium, Cypress, REST Assured, etc.
  • Experience with OOP languages (Java, C#) and scripting languages (Python, Perl, Shell, Bash).
  • Experience with API and microservices testing and automation.
  • Knowledge and experience with Test‑Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior‑Driven Development (BDD) using frameworks such as Cucumber or JBehave.
  • Hands‑on experience with querying languages such as SQL (preferred), Oracle, MySQL and/or No

    SQL databases (Cassandra, Mongo

    DB, etc.).
  • Experience deploying applications in AWS or Open Shift (Kubernetes).
  • Experience automating backend REST services, including writing custom functions with Postman, REST Assured, Karate, Cypress, Ready API, etc.
  • Experience building a test automation framework from the ground up using modular design and patterns like Page Object Model (POM).
  • Experience working in distributed agile teams using SCRUM, SAFe, XP or similar frameworks.
  • Experience with continuous integration tools such as Jenkins, Circle

    CI.
  • Ability to independently create and maintain automation test jobs in Jenkins.
  • Experience with source‑code management tools like Git Lab, Git Hub, or AWS Code Commit.
  • Experience creating test reports from automation runs using tools such as Cucumber reports or Extent reports.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new tools and evolving technologies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey ideas effectively and prepare documentation.
  • Proactive mindset with customer satisfaction as a primary goal.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge and experience with the Travel Industry.
  • Infrastructure automation using Docker, Chef, Puppet, Terraform.
  • Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Code Pipeline, Cloud Formation.
  • Experience virtualizing services for test automation using Wire Mock or Mockito.
  • Experience with test management and agile tools such as Version One or qTest.
  • Experience with container orchestration tools such as Docker, Red Hat Open Shift, or AWS Cloud Formation.
  • Experience in non‑functional testing: performance, load, stress, security, accessibility, and usability testing.
