• Break down larger projects into individual tasks, deliver in multiple phases, and collaborate with the team to ensure timely delivery.
• Support product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design & analytics, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on decisions that consider risks and trade‑offs.
• Support the operations and availability of team artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and participating in on‑call “keep the lights on” efforts.
• Contribute to team culture through engagement in growth activities such as participation in the interview process.

• 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems, proficient in Python or Kotlin.
• Familiar with building blocks of distributed systems and technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience building cost visibility via tagging or creating cost savings opportunities via cost analysis.
• Strong ability to take a simple problem or business scenario into a solution that interacts with multiple software components, writing clear, well‑tested, extensible code.
• Comfort navigating large code base, debugging others' code, and providing feedback through code reviews.
• Proactive growth mindset, seeking feedback from team, manager, and stakeholders.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with global engineering team.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.

Pay Grade – L Equity Grade – 6 Base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) – $160,000 – $210,000 per year Base pay range (all other U.S. states) – $142,000 – $192,000 per year Total compensation may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness, and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental, and vision for you and your dependents).

Affirm is a remote‑first company. Majority of roles are remote and you can work almost anywhere within the U.S. office locations may be required occasionally.
