Job SummaryServing within the Research Faculty of the Enterprise Innovation Institute (EI2), this position directly supports the extension, service, and economic development missions of Georgia Tech to the State of Georgia and beyond. Primary responsibilities involve program development and implementation in the areas of Safety, Health, and Environmental Services, with a focus on industrial hygiene consulting to small businesses under a Department of Labor‑OSHA grant.
TravelLocal, in‑state, and occasional out‑of‑state travel. The position requires significant time dedicated to travel. Most consultations are conducted in person; a valid license and means of transportation are required.
Responsibilities- Provide industrial hygiene consultation to small businesses in Georgia.
- Oversee job site assessments by analyzing, identifying, and measuring workplace hazards or stresses that can cause sickness or significant discomfort through chemical, physical, ergonomic, or biological exposures. Prepare technical reports aligned with sponsor requirements.
- Conduct management and employee interviews.
- Formulate and administer training programs as part of the OSHA Training Institute at Georgia Tech and for other projects; develop training courses for professional education students.
- Perform related duties as assigned, including grant proposal writing, course development, statistical analysis, educational document writing, and other projects.

- Research Extension Professional I: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Safety, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and work experience).
- Research Extension Professional II:
- Master’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Safety, or a related field, or a related field and three years of relevant full‑time experience after completion of that degree.
- Master’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Safety, or a related field, or a related field and five years of relevant full‑time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree.
- Doctoral degree in Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Safety, or a related field.
- Sr. Extension Professional:
- Master’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Safety, or a related field and seven years of relevant full‑time experience after completion of that degree.
- Master’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Safety, or a related field and nine years of relevant full‑time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree.
- Doctoral degree in Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Safety, or a related field and four years of relevant full‑time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree.
- Master’s Degree (MS, MPH, MSPH) or Ph.D. in a related/relevant field.
- Five to Seven years of job‑related experience (or equivalent). Industrial hygiene sampling experience or use of hygiene sampling equipment. Working knowledge of occupational ergonomics and occupational health regulatory topics. OSHA training from an approved OSHA Training Institute Education Center. Experience managing Process Safety Management programs.
