We are seeking a Principal Software Developer for our Application Development team, to help identify, design, build, and support web-enabled and artificial intelligence solutions that create measurable value across the organization and for our members.

This role will work closely with business leaders, product teams, technology teams, and other stakeholders to implement best-in-class applications as well as identify opportunities where AI can improve internal processes, enhance employee productivity, and create new or improved member-facing capabilities. The Principal Software Developer will help translate business challenges into practical solutions and will play a hands-on role throughout the lifecycle (from ideation and prototyping to implementation, adoption and support).

The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering and AI expertise with excellent communication, curiosity, and business acumen. This person should be comfortable working directly with business stakeholders who may be early in their AI journey, helping them understand what is possible, determining where AI is and is not the right solution, and guiding ideas from concept to production.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 4+ years of demonstrated experience designing, developing, and deploying AI or machine-learning solutions ina production environment.
• 5+ years of strong experience with engineering tools (Git, Dev Ops, VSCode etc.), programming languages (C#, Python, JavaScript) and environments (Azure/AWS).
• 4+ years of hands-on experience developing applications using large language models and generative AI.
• 4+ years of experience designing and implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions.
• 4+ years of experience with cloud-based AI platforms such as Microsoft Azure AI Foundry, Amazon Bedrock, or comparable technologies.
• 5+ years of demonstrated software engineering practices, including source control, testing, CI/CD, APIs, cloud development, and application support.
• 5+ years of developing and utilizing patterns and leveraging industry best practices.
• Experience with vector databases, embeddings, semantic search, and enterprise knowledge retrieval.
• Demonstrate advanced business and technical acumen for applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex AI and technical conceptto non-technical audiences.
