Overview
Planning Supervisor –
Location:
Flexi Park, Edificio G, San Rafael, Alajuela, Costa Rica. Reports to Supply Chain Director. Supervises:
Planners I, II, and III. The Planning Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the planning team and ensuring efficient execution of production planning activities. Focuses on equipment availability, quality, cost optimization and safety across operations. Supports critical production chain continuity and coordinates engineering projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Logistics, or related fields.
- Postgraduate studies in Operations Management or Supply Chain (preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in production and materials planning, preferably in the medical device industry or highly regulated sectors.
- Proven experience in demand management, capacity planning, and inventory control.
- Participation in continuous improvement projects and cost optimization initiatives.
- Experience implementing ERP/MRP systems and managing international production transitions.
- Advanced knowledge of planning tools (MRP, ERP, SAP, Oracle, etc.).
- Strong data analysis skills, demand forecasting, and KPI management.
- Familiarity with international quality standards and regulations (ISO 13485, FDA).
- Advanced Excel skills;
Power BI experience is a plus. - Advanced English (required for interaction with international plants and suppliers).
- Supervise planning personnel and ensure effective team performance.
- Coordinate and execute planning activities, including root cause analysis for production issues.
- Ensure production equipment availability while maintaining required quality, cost efficiency, and safety standards.
- Manage planning programs to meet quality and safety standards.
- Coordinate and monitor installation processes for engineering projects.
- Prioritize critical areas to maintain production continuity.
- Keep planning records updated and accurate.
- Ensure compliance with industrial safety standards and maintain order and cleanliness in assigned areas.
- Execute activities defined in action plans to achieve objectives efficiently.
- Comply with established performance standards and procedures to ensure work quality.
