Precision Mechanic Lead Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Precision Mechanic Lead to join our team in Costa Rica. This role involves operating, programming, and maintaining a variety of machining equipment including CNC milling machines, conventional lathes, grinders, and laser markers. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in CAD/CAM programming, interpreting technical drawings, and working with tight tolerances‑preferably in the medical device industry.

This position plays a key role in ensuring the production of high‑precision components that meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

Requirements
  • Technical degree in Precision Mechanics from a vocational school, INA, or related institute
  • 6–7 years of experience operating and programming precision machining equipment (conventional and CNC)
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (Solid Works CAM)
  • Knowledge of technical plastics (e.g., Delrin, PEEK) and metals (e.g., Aluminum, Stainless Steel)
  • Skilled in using and reading measuring instruments (metric and imperial)
  • Advanced mechanical drawing interpretation with GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • Experience in medical or high‑precision manufacturing (preferably under ISO 13485)
  • Intermediate English level (able to read and understand technical documentation)
  • Physical ability to walk, use both hands, and move independently within and outside the plant
  • Verbal communication in Spanish and comprehension of instructions in Spanish and technical English
Responsibilities
  • Operate, program, and adjust machining equipment following established procedures
  • Create and optimize machining programs using Solid Works CAM
  • Perform setups, tool selection, and dimensional verification based on engineering drawings
  • Interpret complex mechanical drawings and specifications
  • Measure part dimensions using micrometers, calipers, and vision systems
  • Conduct in‑process quality inspections to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Record daily production data accurately
  • Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance on assigned equipment
  • Report any delays or issues affecting production timelines
  • Use materials efficiently to minimize waste
  • Comply with occupational health and safety standards and 5S practices
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
