Room Attendant

Cleans and prepares guest rooms and public areas meeting the property's established cleaning standards to ensure guest satisfaction and maximize profits.

• Removes items from shelves and storage and prepares cleaning cart with products; consistently keeps cleaning carts and storage organized and in good condition to promote efficiency and ease of room cleaning.
• Cleans and wipes windows, doors, walls, closets, and accessories in rooms, public areas, and hallways, often using step ladders or stools to clean hard-to-reach areas to maintain a clean, presentable, and attractive facility at all times. Washes shower and tub walls, cleans toilet(s) and toilet partitions when appropriate; wipes down exposed pipes, cleans mirrors, sinks, and walls to ensure clean and hygienic public and guest bathrooms.
• Replenishes room towels, soaps, and all room amenities and restocks printed materials that the previous guest took or that are soiled or broken to ensure adequate supply for the next guests.
• Hand washes all floor areas (linoleum, tile, etc.) to remove dirt and clean stains.
• Shakes and dusts all furniture, accessories, and wall-hangings, including using a duster to reach vents and ceiling corners to remove dust and cobwebs.
• Removes all bedding from beds and remakes with fresh linens, checking the cleanliness of bedspreads, blankets, and mattress covers, replacing them if dirty.
• Lifts mattresses to check for stains between mattresses and under beds.
• Checks closet cleanliness, wipes down closet door, handle, and top shelves, and restocks guest room items such as hooks, blankets, and extra pillows.
• Vacuums rooms, public areas, and hallways operating vacuums weighing up to 25 lbs and lifts and moves heavy furniture to vacuum the entire carpet area, including under furniture and hard-to-reach areas.
• Inspects all door and window locks to ensure they function correctly and immediately alerts management to any unsafe or hazardous situations to ensure the safety of guests and employees.
• Inspects all room equipment (TV, lights/lamps, faucets, radios) to ensure they function correctly and immediately reports in writing the condition of the room and maintenance deficiencies to the Executive Housekeeper for repair or resolution without delay.
• Secures and maintains custody of equipment, keys, and materials to protect and preserve hotel property.

Education/Formal Training

No formal education or training required

Experience

Previous cleaning experience desirable

Knowledge/Skills

• Must have basic knowledge of general cleaning principles, use of cleaning products, and operation of cleaning equipment.
• Must be able to understand and follow verbal or written instructions and communicate verbally and in writing.
• Excellent vision necessary; emphasis on cleaning standards and quality control.

• Must have upper body strength to lift up to 50 lbs continuously throughout the work shift.
• Must have the strength to push, pull, and move levers, equipment, and furniture during the work shift.
• Must be able to work with arms raised above the head during the work shift.
• Must be able to maneuver a fully loaded cleaning cart weighing up to 50 lbs through hallways and into and out of closets during the entire work shift.
