Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university required. Valid New Jersey Principal Certificate or Certificate of Eligibility (CE) for Principal. At least five (5) years of related administrative experience. Demonstrated knowledge and application of effective principles, practices and trends within special education and student services. Ability to effectively administer student support services, special education programs and to work with parents and community groups and agencies.
Strong leadership and communication skills. Effective technological skills. Effectively communicates and understands job instructions both verbally and written in the English language. Successfully completes the required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
Job Goal:
Serves as the administrative head of Student Services. The Director of Student Services directs the planning, development, organization, management, direction and implementation of all aspects of Student Services for the District which includes, but is not limited to:
Health Services, District School Social Workers, student discipline, social-emotional programming and team development, Guidance Counselors (PreK-12), Student Section 504 and District Attendance Officers and Truancy Officers. Additionally, assures compliance with all laws, codes, and regulations related to Student Services; evaluates assigned personnel, and collaborates/provides support to administrative and professional staff in meeting identified instructional goals of the district. Further, acts as a liaison for the Superintendent of Schools and Assistant Superintendent regarding issues related to Student Services.
Directs the efforts of:
School Health Services, Student Services Personnel (including:
Child Study Team (CST), district school social workers and school nurses) Student Assistance Coordinators (SAC), Guidance Counselors (PreK-12), District Attendance Officers and Truancy Officers.
