Responsibilities
The Hardware Systems Support Engineer is responsible for maintaining, configuring, and supporting FAA hardware systems in laboratory environments. This role focuses on hands‑on hardware support, system imaging and configuration, network integration, documentation, and validation of new and existing hardware platforms.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain FAA laboratory hardware, including servers, routers, switches, displays, keypads, interfaces, and related infrastructure.
- Perform system imaging, patching, reconfiguration, and updates for new and existing hardware.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and replace hardware components such as servers, routers, switches, power supplies, and peripherals.
- Support hardware integration into the NAS Enterprise network, including LDAP authentication and network configuration.
- Create, update, and maintain configuration documentation, rack elevations, and hardware inventories.
- Develop and implement system modifications, including keypad replacements, cable modifications, and custom enclosure designs.
- Write, execute, and validate hardware test procedures to ensure system reliability and performance.
- Conduct hardware readiness activities, including interface validation and keypad validation.
- Perform stress testing to verify system stability and performance under load.
- Image and configure new hardware, integrate systems into racks, manage wiring, and support the replacement of legacy systems.
- Hands‑on experience with servers, routers, switches, and enterprise networking hardware.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware, power, and connectivity issues.
- Experience with system imaging, patching, and configuration management.
- Familiarity with enterprise networks, NAS environments, and LDAP authentication.
- Ability to read, create, and maintain technical documentation and rack diagrams.
- Experience developing or modifying hardware components, cables, or enclosures.
- U.S. Citizen or Green Card required.
Senior‑level:
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience with a bachelor’s degree in any engineering field.
- Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree and 3 years’ experience.
- Ph.D. in a related field may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree and 7 years’ experience.
- Compensation Range: $114,390 – $240,350
Mid‑level:
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience with a bachelor’s degree in any engineering field.
- Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree and 3 years’ experience.
- Ph.D. in a related field may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree and 7 years’ experience.
- Compensation Range: $85,950 – $149,200
Junior‑level:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience with a bachelor’s degree in any engineering field.
- Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree and 3 years’ experience.
- Ph.D. in a related field may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree and 7 years’ experience.
- Compensation Range: $64,620 – $123,300
- Experience supporting lab or test environments.
- Knowledge of hardware validation, readiness testing, and stress testing methodologies.
- Familiarity with legacy system migration and hardware refresh projects.
