Aircraft Engine Mechanic

Duties As an AIRCRAFT ENGINE MECHANIC, WG-8602-10, you will:

• Troubleshoot, modify, repair, and perform sequential disassembly and assembly of aircraft engines

• Analyze malfunctions using schematic and wiring diagrams, blueprints, manufacturer's specifications, computer diagnostics data, inspection findings, trending data, technical orders, and aircrew debriefs

• Requisition, process, and account for supply assets as required by the repairable processing system

• Perform engine run operation on installed and uninstalled engines to troubleshoot malfunctions or verify findings

Additional Employment Requirements:

- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory

You may be required to successfully complete a 1- or 2- year probation/trial period to assess performance, conduct, agency needs, public interest, and efficiency. Employment ends unless certified in writing that it advances the agencies interest.

Min: AB/PV/E-1 and Max: SSgt/SGT/E-5 Applicant(s) (Enlisted) who are over grade must clearly state, in their resumes, their intentions to willingly take a reduction in grade

Compatible Military Assignments Appointments may require the selected candidate to be assigned to a military unit compatible with the full-time Military Technician (Dual Status) position.

Qualifications General

Experience:

Experience or training that has provided the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operations and make prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories in accordance with technical specifications, procedures and requirements. Experience using hand and power tools common to the trade.

Specialized

Experience:

At least 12 months experience training performing standard:

• Assembly and disassembly operations and making prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories

• Maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft engines, engine components, and power trains for fixed and/or rotary wing aircraft

• Determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical record, and by own diagnosis

Education There are no education requirements for this vacancy announcement

Security Clearance Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance within 1(One) Year of appointment. If you are a male applicant who was born after 12/31/1959 and are required to register under the Military Selective Service Act, the Defense Authorization Act of 1986 requires that you be registered or you are not eligible for appointment in this agency.
