POSITION SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse is a member of the interdisciplinary team working with the Physician. The RN utilizes the nursing care process to provide culturally competent care in inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. Responsibilities include oversight of interdisciplinary care coordination and ensuring consistency with medical treatment plans.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Apply assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation phases of the nursing process.
- Document assessment data: subjective and objective information, including physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural aspects.
- Develop a documented plan of care with goals and interventions aligned with identified problems.
- Implement interventions consistent with the plan of care and the medical treatment plan.
- Conduct ongoing evaluation of intervention effectiveness, determine outcomes, and revise care plans as needed.
- Perform limited laboratory services, including specimen collection, processing, quality control, and result reporting.
- Support performance improvement initiatives and lead patient care team members.
- Engage in continuous professional development and educational activities.
Education/License:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
- BSN in progress must complete within 3 years of hire.
- Current RN license in New Jersey (or multi‑state license covering NJ) required.
- BLS required.
- Valid NJ driver’s license required for Adult and Child Partial Programs.
Experience:
- 2‑year medical/surgical or emergency room experience preferred; 8‑hour basic trauma education annually required.
- ACLS required within 6 months of hire; PALS or ENPC within 12 months.
- ATCN or TNCC within 3–24 months of hire depending on specialty.
- Specialty credentials (e.g., CCRN) preferred for critical‑care units.
- Proficiency in clinical applications preferred at time of hire; training provided to meet proficiency within 60 days.
Certification/Training:
- ACLS and PALS certification must be current at time of hire.
- Basic trauma education: minimum 8 contact hours annually.
- Basic stroke educational requirements: NIHSS training completed within 6 months of hire and maintained.
- CPI, NRP, and other unit‑specific certifications required within specified time frames.
- Demonstrate competency in department‑specific roles as outlined in the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
- Adhere to safety and infection control procedures, including handling hazardous substances and exposure to blood borne pathogens.
- Maintain patient mobility and lifting standards, including up to 100 pounds with assistance when needed.
- Bulky patient handling and exposure to infectious disease risk.
- Manual dexterity for instrument manipulation and care in confined procedural areas.
- Color discrimination may be required in some settings.
This position reports to the patient care unit or department leadership.
