Senior Lead Platform Engineer (IAM)

As a Platform Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One.
The Operational Excellence team within the Cyber Identity and Access Management (IAM) organization is looking for a multi-domain, technical, subject matter expert to join the team that provides architecture, engineering, and production support across the entire IAM portfolio with a focus on improving automation, resiliency, and reliability. This position works closely with application engineers in the Cyber division, functional counterparts across the enterprise, and IAM Engineering leadership.
What You’ll Do:
- Work with engineers, architects, and other groups to identify technical and functional needs of systems and applications to improve the automation, resiliency, and reliability across the IAM portfolio.
- Lead initiatives designed to improve the health and availability across the IAM application portfolio including automating processes, defining new patterns, reducing one off solutions, and creating a more resilient, secure, and available set of IAM services.
- Lead and support responses to operational disruptions and champion long‑term solutions and systems improvements to enhance the stability, reliability, and resiliency of IAM applications and infrastructure.
- Influence IAM application teams in adopting technologies, processes, and best practices that improve the craftsmanship, availability, resilience and scalability of IAM solutions
- Constantly think ahead about what is coming and how we adapt in a proactive way and design with operational excellence from the start.
- Provide consulting and hands‑on support to multiple product areas to resolve application deployment and management issues with a focus on minimizing impact to our customers.
- Participate in the design, development, testing, and release of new capabilities and features with focus on release and post‑production support.
- Drive improvements to processes and design enhancements to automation to continuously improve the production environment.
- Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community
- Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting‑edge technologies, inclusion, outside‑of‑the‑box thinking, teamwork, self‑organization and diversity
- Utilize scripting languages like Python, SQL, Ruby and groovy, Container Orchestration services including Docker and ECS, CM tools including Ansible and Terraform, and a variety of AWS tools and services
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
- At least 8 years of experience with engineering and operational support of IAM services such as identity lifecycle management, user and application authentication and authorization, privileged access management or native cloud IAM services.
