Overview
Registered Nurse – 5 Harmony Acute Care/Pulmonary Registered Nurse is a member of the interdisciplinary team working with the Physician. The RN utilizes the nursing care process including initiation of culturally competent continuum of care in inpatient, outpatient and community settings. The RN is responsible for coordinating the interdisciplinary plan of care to ensure consistency with the medical treatment plan.
Responsibilities- Assessment – identify, gather and organize subjective and objective data for the patient/family/significant other, including physical, psychosocial, spiritual and cultural aspects.
- Planning – identify actual or potential problems and desired outcomes (goals) and develop a documented plan of care for the patient, family and interdisciplinary team.
- Intervention – implement specific interventions or orders consistent with the plan of care and medical treatment plan.
- Evaluation – determine the effectiveness of interventions in achieving the plan of care; document actions; reassess and revise problems, goals, plan of care and interventions as needed.
- Education and empowerment – provide education aligned with identified problems and goals to promote patient empowerment.
The RN actively supports performance improvement initiatives and provides leadership to other members of the patient care team. By participating in educational activities, the RN pursues continued professional and personal growth.
Experience and Specialties- Emergency Room, Trauma, ICU/CTA units and related hospital areas with 2 years medical/surgical and/or emergency room experience preferred.
- ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer; ATCN or TNCC required within 24 months of hire or transfer; PALS or ENPC required within 12 months; CPI required by 6/30/24 for current staff; continuously maintained thereafter for new hires.
- Other department-specific requirements and certifications may apply (e.g., NICU, Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby, Perinatology, Pediatrics, Endoscopy, Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, Radiation Oncology, Oncology Infusion, Wound Care, Cardiology, Structural Heart, etc.).
- Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. If hired without a BSN, enrollment in a BSN program within 1 year and completion within 3 years. - Licensure:
Current RN license in New Jersey or valid multi-state license; BLS required. - Experience:
Proficiency in clinical applications; relevant specialty experience as listed above.
- Potential exposure to hospital environment hazards, blood-borne pathogens, infectious diseases and hazardous substances.
- Physical requirements include considerable reaching, stooping, kneeling and crouching; extensive standing and walking; frequent lifting of 25–50 pounds and occasional lifting of 50–100 pounds with assistance; pushing and pulling of heavy equipment.
- Some departments may require color discrimination.
