Registered Nurse – Operating Room – Baylor City Campus – Full Time Nights
The Registered Nurse is a member of the interdisciplinary team working with physicians to provide culturally competent, continuous care across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. The RN applies the nursing care process, coordinating the interdisciplinary plan of care to align with the medical treatment plan.
The nursing care process includes:
• Assessment – gathering and organizing subjective and objective data about the patient/family, including physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural aspects.
• Planning – identifying problems and desired outcomes, documenting a care plan, and guiding the interdisciplinary team.
• Intervention – implementing orders and specific actions in line with the care plan and medical plan.
• Evaluation – determining the effectiveness of interventions, revising plans as needed, and documenting outcomes.
Patient care activities are performed according to standards, procedural guidelines, and organizational policy. The RN supports performance improvement initiatives, demonstrates leadership, and participates in continuous professional growth activities.
Qualifications- Education / Licensure – Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred. Current RN license in New Jersey or equivalent multi‑state license; BLS required.
- Driver’s License – Valid New Jersey driver’s license required.
- Experience – Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at hire; required within 30–60 days. 2–4 years of medical/surgical experience preferred; 2 years of emergency room or OR experience desired. 1 year of OR experience desired; CNOR preferred.
- Certifications – ACLS required within 6 months of assignment, continued throughout employment. PALS or ENPC provider status preferred within 12 months; required by 6 months for ICU nurses. Additional specialty certifications (ATCN, TNCC, etc.) required after 24 months of assignment.
- Labor and Delivery – 2–4 years preferred, ACLS required within 6 months, NRP(NA) required within 1 year.
- Neonatal Intensive Care – 2–4 years preferred; NRP(NA) within 1 year.
- Operating Room – Minimum 1 year medical/surgical experience; 1–2 years OR experience preferred. CNOR preferred.
- Critical Care (ICU) – 2–4 years medical/surgical experience preferred; 1–2 years ICU experience preferred. ACLS required within 12 months.
- Emergency Department – 2–4 years medical/surgical experience preferred; 2 years ER experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months.
- Radiology – 2–4 years medical/surgical experience preferred; critical care experience preferred; ACLS and PALS required within 12 months.
- Perinatology – 3 years labor & delivery experience preferred; OB certification required.
- Phlebotomy, EKG, IV – Must be performed; BLS and ACLS required.
- Other Specialty Areas (e.g., Dialysis, Psychiatry, Pediatrics, Oncology, Endoscopy, etc.) – All require 1–2 years medical/surgical experience plus specialty‑specific experience and certifications (e.g., BLS, ACLS, PALS, ENPC, etc.) as listed in the original posting.
The RN demonstrates competence in department‑specific assessments and evaluation tools, maintains required competencies, and collaborates with the care team to improve patient outcomes.
Work Environment- Potential exposure to blood borne pathogens, infectious disease, hazardous substances, and occupational injury.
- Physical demands: reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, extensive standing/walking, stairs, lifting 25–100 pounds, pushing heavy equipment, manual dexterity, and ability to distinguish colors.
- Work may involve operating in confined areas (e.g., electrophysiology lab) and handling radiation exposure.
- Bariatric patients with comorbid conditions.
- Cath Lab patients with cardiac/vascular diseases.
- ICU patients with acute medical/surgical, neurological, or cardiovascular issues.
- Behavioral health patients with bipolar, schizophrenia, or depression.
- Dialysis patients with chronic renal failure.
- Endoscopy patients (chronic pain management, GI, pulmonary, etc.).
