Registered Nurse Operations Leader Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Hospital Operations Leader coordinates and supervises the activities of hospital personnel, shifts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. On weekdays, the Hospital Operations Leader works in collaboration with the leadership team to provide an optimal care environment. During the off hour shifts, the Hospital Operations Leader is the Administrative representative on‑premises, providing continuity of round‑the‑clock leadership and safety.
The position supports high quality patient care and safety through evaluating performance of nursing and ancillary services, managing staffing, hours of care, and patient flow. The Hospital Operations Leader supports compliance with hospital policies and procedures, patient experience needs, incident management; and is a liaison for smooth transitions across access points.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Continuously conducts campus‑wide rounds and leads and coordinates patient and visitor concern resolutions and emergency management.
- Provides consultation and leadership when collaborating across disciplines and with community leaders, government officials, and organizational partners.
- Maintains frequent communication with all internal departments to smooth throughput, reducing barriers.
- Responsible for collaboration with managers and directors to determine optimal staffing compliments for most efficient and cost‑effective patient flow to maintain patient safety.
- Supports organizational goals by providing a quality patient experience, ensuring clear communication, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.
- Works collaboratively to solve problems and make decisions utilizing input of administrative leaders and the administrator on call after hours and on weekends as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Bachelor's degree required.
LICENSE / CERTIFICATION: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Jersey or Nurse Licensure Compact. BLS/HP required. ACLS required within 30 days of hire or transfer.
EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years of nursing experience required, with demonstrated progressive leadership responsibilities.
Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at the time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the technical competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, blood‑borne pathogens, and potential injury.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to the Director of Nursing Resources.
