The Registered Nurse is a member of the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with the Physician. The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing care process consistent with their license and/or certification, initiating culturally competent continuum of care in inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. The Registered Nurse oversees coordination of the interdisciplinary plan of care and ensures consistency with the medical treatment plan.
Responsibilities- Perform the patient care process: assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Identify and organize subjective and objective data pertaining to the patient/family, including physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural aspects.
- Develop a documented plan of care, identifying actual or potential problems and desired outcomes, and provide direction for the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team.
- Implement specific interventions or orders consistent with the plan of care and medical treatment plan.
- Determine the effectiveness of interventions in achieving desired outcomes and document necessary actions.
- Perform limited laboratory services, including patient identification, specimen collection, sample processing, quality control testing, instrument maintenance, and result reporting to clinicians.
- Support performance improvement initiatives and provide leadership to other members of the patient care team.
- Participate in educational activities and assume responsibility for continued professional and personal growth.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
- Current Registered Nurse license in the State of New Jersey or a current multi‑state license; BLS required.
- Valid New Jersey driver’s license.
- Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; skill required within 30–60 days from date of hire.
- Specialty experience in Emergency Room, Labor & Delivery, ICU, Cardiovascular, Respiratory, and other clinical units.
- Required certifications: ACLS within 6 months of initial assignment; ATCN or TNCC after 24 months; PALS or ENPC within 12 months; other specialty certifications as applicable to the unit.
Demonstrates the ability to perform the department specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
Work Environment- Potential exposure to blood borne pathogens, infectious disease, hazardous substances, and radiation.
- Physical demands: reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, stair use, lifting 25–50 pounds frequently, 50–100 pounds with assistance, pushing, pulling, and transporting patients.
- Ability to distinguish colors may be required.
This position reports to the patient care unit or department leadership.
