Job Description
The Ambulatory Licensed Practical Nurse is a member of a collaborative interdisciplinary team. The LPN utilizes the care process consistent with their license and within their scope of practice, reinforcing the patient and family teaching program through health teaching, health counseling and provision of supportive and restorative care under the direction of a Registered Nurse or licensed Physician. Documenting objective and subjective physical findings and interventions, the LPN supports performance improvement initiatives, participates in educational activities and assumes responsibility for continued professional and personal growth.
Work environment hazards and risk include potential exposure to infectious disease, blood‑borne pathogens, hazardous substances and injury. Physical demands include considerable reaching, stooping, kneeling and crouching, extensive standing and walking, lifting approximately 25 to 50 pounds frequently and 50 to 100 pounds with assistance occasionally, and pushing and pulling heavy equipment. Some departments require color discrimination and periodic travel to other department locations is expected.
The position reports to the patient care unit leadership. Essential functions of this role are listed on the department‑specific Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
Qualifications- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current licensure as LPN in the State of New Jersey.
- Current BLSHCP.
- Family Medicine/Urgent Care: 3‑5 years clinical experience including pediatric experience required; strong organizational skills preferred.
- Cardiology: 1‑2 years of clinical experience preferred.
- Internal Medicine: 3‑5 years clinical experience in medical/surgical required; strong organizational skills preferred.
- Pediatric Pulmonary: 3‑5 years pediatric nursing experience required; strong organizational skills preferred.
- Trauma Outpatient: 3‑5 years medical/surgical experience required; strong organizational skills preferred.
- Clinic Services: 3‑5 years clinical experience in medical/surgical required; strong organizational skills preferred.
- Infectious Disease: 3‑5 years clinical experience in medical/surgical required; strong organizational skills preferred.
- Mission Services: 3‑5 years clinical experience in medical/surgical required; strong organizational skills preferred.
