POSITION SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse is a member of the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with the Physician. The RN utilizes the nursing care process consistent with their license and/or certification, including its initiation of culturally competent continuum of care in inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. The RN oversees coordination of the interdisciplinary plan of care, ensuring consistency with the medical treatment plan.
Responsibilities include the nursing care process of Assessment, Planning, Intervention, Evaluation
, and may include limited laboratory services.
- Assessment: orderly process of collecting and organizing subjective and objective data (physical, psychosocial, spiritual, cultural).
- Planning: identify problems and desired outcomes, develop documented plan of care that guides patient/family/ team.
- Intervention: implement specific interventions or orders consistent with the plan of care and medical treatment plan.
- Evaluation: assess effectiveness of interventions, determine conclusions, modify care plan, document required actions. This step may initiate reassessment and revisions.
- Perform limited laboratory services: patient identification, specimen collection, sample processing, quality control testing, instrument maintenance, monitor and record results, report critical values, maintain competency and certification.
- Education & License:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred.
- Non‑BSN candidates must enroll in a BSN program within 1 year and complete within 3 years.
- Current RN license in New Jersey (state). Multi‑state license acceptable.
- BLS required.
- Valid NJ driver’s license required for employees in Adult and Child Partial Programs.
- Experience: Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred umbents will receive training and required to achieve competency within 30‑60 days.
- Performance Expectations: Demonstrate ability to perform the department specific competencies listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
Potential exposure to hazards of a hospital environment, blood borne pathogens, infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury.
- Reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching.
- Extensive standing and walking, including stairs.
- Lifting 25‑50 pounds frequently; lifting 50‑100 pounds with assistance occasionally.
- Pushing and pulling heavy equipment.
This position reports to the patient care unit or department leadership.
