The Database Architect will focus on database design and the ongoing support and administration of Oracle and SQL databases for DCF development work for Agency programs and COTS applications. The DBA will be required to lead numerous projects and initiatives in regards to upgrades or project work for SQL and Oracle environments. The DBA should be an expert at Oracle Database management and must be able to design, develop and manipulate database management systems, data warehouses and multidimensional databases.
The candidate will have support responsibilities for SQL databases and should have knowledge of SQL functions and tools.
This role requires interaction with a cross-functional team of technology and business professionals including infrastructure, application development, business partners, and 3rd party subject matter experts to ensure that solutions are planned, developed, deployed, and maintained in accordance with the Department of Children and Family’s security, policies and business requirements.
Tasks and Responsibilities- Team lead responsibilities for projects and initiatives.
- This role requires experience to be with Oracle 11g and 12c, Oracle Management tools, and data migration experience is required.
- Knowledge and understanding of SQL Server 2008R2, 2012 or 2014, familiarity and knowledge of SQL tools and functions like SSRS is a plus.
- The candidate will analyze and model data requirements, application and processing architectures, data dictionaries, and database schema(s), and then design, develop, amend, optimize, and certify database schema design to meet system(s) requirements.
- Understand Oracle Star Schema and have an understanding of Oracle data Warehouse environments. And have the ability to implement and maintain the database designs, Create database objects (tables, indexes, etc.).
- The applicant must be capable of creating Shell scripts and packages, provide recommendations for performance monitoring and tuning, understand the complexities with change management in Software Development Life Cycles, and should have an understanding of the overall DBMS implementation and knowledge that will help with formal design of new and existing databases.
- The applicant should be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures and provide insight into strategic data manipulation.
- Develop database level monitoring for application related issues and tune database queries to find efficiencies.
- Proactively diagnose and work with application developers to resolve application SQL or Oracle performance issues using available tools.
- Experience with enterprise class applications with mission critical functionality which contain sensitive and or regulatory information such as IRS Pub 1075 and PII is highly recommended.
- Experience with meeting government regulations on security, data encryption as defined by the regulations is recommended.
- Having experience with solutions used by the state of Wisconsin, such as eWiSACWis, KIDS and CARES is beneficial.
- 5+ or more years DBA work experience (required)
- BS in computer science or related engineering field (preferred)
- Certified as an Oracle DBA or SQL DBA (preferred)
Rotating 24x7 on call will be required.
