The Creek Language Apprentice I supports the preservation and revitalization of the Creek Language through grammar-based and immersion learning. The Apprentice develops conversational skills, verb conjugation, sentence formation, and the ability to lead Pre‑K language classes. Successful completion of established proficiency and performance requirements is required for advancement to Creek Language Apprentice II. Other duties may be assigned to support program and departmental goals.

• Must plan, teach, and pass the teaching evaluation for Pre‑K classes that is to be given by the Supervisor-Creek Language
• After successfully completing the teaching evaluation and after successfully completing six (6) months of service as an Apprentice I may sit for the Creek Language Apprentice II exam
• A three (3) month waiting period is required between testing attempts

• High School Diploma or equivalent required or currently enrolled and successfully complete a GED program within six (6) months from start date as a condition of continued employment.
• Must possess certification of “Mandatory Reporter Training” or obtain during the first week of employment.
• Must possess and maintain First Aid/CPR certification or obtain within ninety (90) days of employment.
• Must possess certification of “Serv Safe Training” or obtain within thirty (30) days of employment.
• Knowledgeable in the Native American culture, especially Poarch Creek culture.
• Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed.
• Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
• Must possess a valid state driver’s license and insurable driving record according to Tribal insurance guidelines.
• Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events.li>
• Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position adequately and successfully.
